I Heart Cargo Bikes: The Bash
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Hopscotch Town and Splendid Cycles have come together to throw an “I <Heart> Cargo Bikes” bash at Splendid's new home just off the Springwater Corridor Trail on Thursday, Feb 13th 3-7pm.
Come one, come all! We are celebrating Splendid's new location, the official launch of the How to Move by Bike book, and our burning love affair with cargo bikes.
The “I <Heart> Cargo Bikes” celebration will include How to Move by Bike books for sale, a children story hour and coloring activity 3-5pm, and free beer and light snacks after 5pm.

How to Move by Bike is the first publication from Hopscotch Town. Our Mayor of Hopscotch Town, Steph Routh, has participated in over 65 bike moves. A bike move entails a group of people who help move someone’s household from one home to another completely by bike. You can buy a copy at the event or online in our shop.
Splendid Cycles first opened its doors in May 2010 on SE Belmont in Portland, Oregon. As a bike shop purely peddling cargo bikes, the 1,100 square feet space was a tight fit, and one that they have recently outgrown. Splendid Cycles has become the nation’s largest retailer of Bullitt bikes in the few years they’ve been open. Co-owners Barb and Joel Grover found a new location nearly three times the size of their Belmont shop to hold their growing inventory; the new space is on SE Ivon, right off the Springwater Corridor Trail. “This may be one of the best mult-modal viewpoints in the city,” noted Barb Grover. “From our shop we can see walkers, bicyclists, skaters, roller-skiers, cars, trucks, buses, trains, the streetcar, the tram, and even ships.”
Barb Grover of Splendid Bikes gives full credit to their loyal customers for this relocation to a larger space. “We are thankful for all of the support and patronage that led to the growth of our business and the need for larger space. We hope everyone will come share in the celebration.”
Come to "I <Heart> Cargo Bikes" for a few minutes or stay for hours. Hope to see you on Feb. 13th!
